"(Biarpun ada, red.) isu monopoli, itu tak mengubah semangat kami untuk membangun jaringan di perbatasan. Kami tak bisa cuma tunggu, lalu masuk (bangun jaringan, red.) karena akses telekomunikasi sangat diperlukan saudara-saudara kita," tutur Ririek menegaskan.

Sejauh ini Telkomsel telah membuktikan komitmennya dengan membangun 627 BTS di wilayah-wilayah perbatasan, seperti Australia, Malaysia, Singapura, dan Vietnam. Total, Telkomsel telah membangun sekitar 120.000 BTS di seluruh pelosok.

Pada kesempatan tersebut juga, menegaskan kembali komitmennya, Telkomsel menandatangani prasasti pembangunan jaringan di daerah perbatasan. Prasasti ini ditandatangani langsung oleh Ririek Adriansyah beserta Menkopolkuham Wiranto dan Mendagri Tjahjo Kumolo di Alor.

"Membangun jaringan di perbatasan itu ada kendala karena banyak hal perlu dilakukan. Misalnya, pembangunan jaringan di Papua penuh tantangan karena ada unsur keamanannya," kata Ririek.

Penandatanganan ini sekaligus mendapat dukungan langsung dari Menkopolkuham dan Mendagri untuk mempermudah pembangunan jaringan di seluruh Nusantara.

Di Pulau Alor sendiri, Telkomsel telah membangun 70 BTS, yang 20 di antaranya adalah BTS 3G dan 2 unit lainnya BTS 4G, untuk melayani 200 ribu penduduk
